Our Story
A Legacy of Selflessness
Vittorio's Hands is a living legacy left by Vittorio Narducci of Montenero Val Cocchiara, Italy. As a young teen growing up in the bucolic Apennine Mountains of Italy in the wake of WWII he and other children in the area frequently encountered unexploded ordinances left in the wake of the Nazi occupation of the region. Even as a young man his heart and determination to protect his community were apparent. He was know for disarming these dangerous mines to prevent them from harming others in his community. At 13, he stopped a group of other children in his village from playing with one such bomb. During the process of attempting to disarm it he met an untimely end, all while safeguarding the well-being of others.
Our Mission & Vision
We envision a world free of the ruthlessness of war, and are working to provide real-time material support, to effect the removal, and neutralization of residual unexploded ordinances left behind by conflict.
We believe in a world where children can be children, families can grow together in love, and peace without fear of circumstances beyond their control destroying their lives. Therefore, our mission to to provide a means to bring demining equipment to the people of Ukraine. More largely, to provide demining equipment to the people of war-torn lands around the world.
Our vision is to effectively reverse the scourge of war on the land (Ukraine) as we make the lands safer for the lives of the people living there.
Our Impact
The impact of our vital, and lifesaving work is vital to the physical, and emotional well being of families living with the disparate impacts of brutal conflicts of which they are wholly innocent in. This necessary work creates ripples that will impact and improve the fabric of our larger collective human family for generations to come.
Why are children especially vulnerable to landmines? Landmines and unexploded or abandoned ordnance (so-called “remnants of war”) still cause death and injury across various parts of the world. Children are particularly vulnerable, attracted to remnants for their colorful appearance and unaware of how dangerous they are. These can cause death & debilitating injuring for generations after the conflicts end. No innocent child should have to experience these harms in their lifetime.
